Peephole Tees

Show your iPod love with this subtly striped tee by Peephole Tees.

Peephole Tees is the collaborative business of Trey Crowe and Andy Chason. Between the two are graphic design skills-- Chason-- and screenprinting and hands-on know how-- Crowe. The press that the two work with was built from scratch by Crowe, who made a go of the shirt business several years ago but didn't have the graphics know how to back up his mechanical adroit. While he enjoys screenprinting and conceptualizing new designs, Crowe didn't have a particular reason for making a go of it.
"I'm just in it for the T-shirts,"he said jokingly.

Designer Andy Chason overhauls Volkswagens in his spare time. Pictured is his current ride.

In undeniable contrast, Chason's experience with T-shirt design grew from experimenting with cans of spray paint and hand-cut stencils.
"It started when HoodRide was popular," he said. "They were big on stencils."
Chason's design style goes hand-in-hand with one of his hobbies-- refurbishing Volkswagens-- nine of which he has tricked out with offbeat verve in the past eight years. Chason said his artistic style can best be described as rockabilly-- a little 1940s style mixed with punk rock edge.

Since its inception several months ago Peephole Tees has made one round of T-shirt designs, printed on quality American Apparel, and made an appearance with them at The Mississippi Street Art Block, which was held May 17 in Ruston. Soon to be loaded with a whole new crop of designs, they and are scheduled to make another appearance at the Art Block in September.

Peephole Tees is currently in the process of printing new designs such as the one pictured.

The new designs, Chason said, are larger and more detailed than the last. Peephole Tees has also ordered a shipment of a new cut in shirts. These have sleeves, something that the female demographic seems to prefer, he said, and are fitted and made to compliment the female figure.
